THE WORK OF ALEX NAUGHTON
Journalist/Writer
Since I was a child, I've loved coming up with stories. Be it in a drawing, on the playground, or with pen and paper, storytelling has always inspired me. When I found out there was an entire industry built on telling stories, I knew it was right for me.

Now, I'm a young journalist trying to get my start in the industry and tell the stories that matter to people.
PORTFOLIO OF WORK
Past. Present. Future.
Jefferson City News Tribune
I worked at the Jefferson City News Tribune for nearly two years. The News Tribune is a traditional local paper with a rich history in Jefferson City and Missouri. There I was the county/public safety reporter, covering Cole County Commission news, police and fire, and community stories. I sourced stories, conducted interviews, analyzed data, and wrote engaging pieces.
Columbia Missourian
I wrote as a reporter for the Columbia Missourian several times during my time studying at the University of Missouri. I wrote as a general assignment reporter and as a higher education reporter. Reporting for the Missourian was one of the greatest opportunities I've ever had. I covered events, re-wrote news releases, wrote profiles, and more. The editors I worked with at the Missourian helped hone my skills as a journalist and I'll always look back on my time there fondly.
Boone County Journal
The Boone County Journal was my first reporting job. It's a small-town paper, locally owned and run in Ashland, MO. This was my first taste of professional journalism. I sourced, wrote, and edited my own stories at the Journal, covering local elections, bond issues, recreation, and more.
"Storytelling is as natural as breathing; plotting is the literary version of artificial respiration."
